CHAMP Volunteers
Get Involved and Make a Difference!
CHAMP is a decentralized (spread out) network with no central office. This makes it easy to volunteer no matter where you live - but also means our volunteers need to be self-motivated and organized.

There are three ways you can get involved. We can match your skills and find the best way for you to make a difference.
1. The Weekly Volunteer (Southern New England or at your home or allied organization)
If you have 2-10 hours a week to volunteer, we have opportunities for you to get involved with ongoing projects. These projects require some consistency from week to week but are a great way to really gain experience. If you can commit to coming in every Wednesday afternoon (for example) to our Providence location, we’ll make sure to plug you into a project that meets your interests and experience.
2. The HIV Prevention Justice Volunteer
If you’re interested in working on issues and actions, there are several ways you can be involved. CHAMP RI and CHAMP NY are a local member-led groups in Providence and New York City of people living with HIV/AIDS, other AIDS activists and workers.
CHAMP NY meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. CHAMP RI is also the RI chapter of the Campaign to End AIDS, a national movement of people living with AIDS and their allies and meets every month for a weekend lunch.
The Prevention Justice Seminar is an intensive, intergenerational seven-week organizer training program in which participants share and learn skills in media, organizing and policy work. The next seminar will be held in Providence in Spring 2006.
Participating in one of these groups or events is a good way to be consistently involved with CHAMP. You can volunteer to be more involved with campaigns when you have more time, and take on smaller roles when you have less time.
